The petition calls for any new mother or father to give their voting privilege for their first 12 weeks to a member on Capitol Hill who can vote for them.

Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna says she’s left the House Freedom Caucus because some of the members are attempting to undermine her efforts to get the chamber to allow new parents to vote by proxy.
Luna has signed onto a petition in support of the temporary proxy privileges for such members that has enough signatures to force a full House vote.
